Opportunity Fund Tuition Credits

“A small gesture of recognition is like ‘a tap on the shoulder’ for someone from the inner city who has never dreamed of a future that includes opportunity. The University of Winnipeg Opportunity Fund Tuition Credits are designed to help inner-city youth dream a future for themselves.”

Dr. Lloyd Axworthy, President & Vice-Chancellor

The University of Winnipeg Tuition Credit program will help to attract an entire group of future university students who may not even recognize that university could be a possibility for them, helping them to believe in themselves and to imagine a future that includes higher education. The Tuition Credit program provides incentives that encourage students to stay in school and eventually graduate from High School.

For students in grades four through eight, The University of Winnipeg offers an incentive program through participation in The University of Winnipeg's Eco-Kids, combined with successful completion of the school year and academic achievement. This program gives young students the opportunity to earn ‘tuition credits,’ and introduces, at an early age, the notion that university education is possible. Students can work their way towards earning tuition to pay for post-secondary education at The University of Winnipeg, with incentives to encourage students to achieve averages of 80 percent or higher and to participate in extra-curricular activities.
