Your gifts to The University of Winnipeg through its Foundation make an incredible difference in the lives of our students and in the ability of faculty and staff to deliver the levels of excellence in education for which the University and its Collegiate are known.

We will assist you in finding an area for your donation that matches your wishes and interests. Following is information about where your gifts can help.

Scholarships and Bursaries

Our students benefit greatly from financial assistance in the form of scholarships and bursaries. Your support does more than help a particular student or group of students.

The impact of offering financial support for students extends into the furthest corners of our communities. Every gift is beneficial, not just to the recipient, but to our society at large, as students upon their graduation begin to make contributions in the intellectual, economic, scientific, and cultural domains of the nation.

Today, with rising costs for tuition and limited resources to support students, there is an increased need for scholarships and bursaries that enable worthy students to obtain university degrees.

Please consider using your donations and pledges this year in support of scholarships and bursaries. Donations can be made through our annual or special fund drives, or you may wish to give now through on-line giving.

You will be making a gift with tremendous impact on the future lives of our students, helping people to realize their dreams and aspirations for higher learning and directly and indirectly benefiting many other members of our communities.

A scholarship is a gift of money awarded to a student on the basis of academic achievement, requiring that the student subsequently register for study at the University.

A bursary is a grant normally given to help meet a student's financial needs, where the student holds a satisfactory academic record or meets other requirements.

A prize or medal is a gift awarded for academic achievement or other merit, and is not dependent on a student continuing in a particular course of study.

Campus Development

The University of Winnipeg is moving ahead with its ambitious campus and community redevelopment plan, with capital components supported through A World of Opportunity Capital Campaign.

Released in September 2007, the Campus Development Plan was the culmination of extensive campus and community consultations and proposes a holistic approach to campus and community development that breaks down barriers between the University and the neighbourhood. Development of the plan was spearheaded by UWinnipeg's Community Renewal Corporation (UWCRC), which manages many of the UniversityÕs development projects.

The Campus Development Plan and Capital Campaign will transform our campus in exciting ways for years to come. Below is a description of projects supported through A World of Opportunity Campaign.

Academic Enhancements

The University of Winnipeg, through its Foundation, is fortunate to receive donations from alumni, other foundations, corporations, and individuals. These contributions - known collectively as "private funding" within the context of university fundraising - have helped to meet a broad range of needs, enabling students and faculty to grow in excellence within an infrastructure dedicated to that end.

Why Donate to The University of Winnipeg?

The actual physical structure of our University is itself a vital and vibrant presence in the heart of the city, in the heart of the continent, and in the heart of its alumni.

Our University's faculty members share their research and their expertise with teachers in every part of the world.

Our Collegiate and University students develop into leaders, achievers, builders, thinkers - contributors in every domain.

The Collegiate, United College, and The University of Winnipeg graduates contribute to the quality of life in their communities in outstanding ways. Their accomplishments have been aided, directly and indirectly, through donations in support of scholarships, bursaries, chairs, capital development projects, special projects, and more.

Every gift a donor makes to our University of Winnipeg Foundation has an impact on the lives not only of local students, but of the entire "village," through the interconnected aspects of peoples' lives.

Higher standards of education, and the drive for excellence in the delivery of education, yield great benefits for our own society and disperse the seeds of intellectual discovery to the furthest reaches of the globe.
